The Meetings

We meet the second Wednesday of every month at Hackspace Oldham, Yorkshire Street, Oldham, at 7:00pm. Meetings run no later than 10:00pm.

The organisers are David Soponski and Eric Ian Steele

Beyond the opening of the reading and introductions by attendees, the meetings are mostly informal. Food and drink are allowed, though we do ask that you clean up after yourselves.

No raised voices, no shouting! (We share the event space with others, plus if things get uncivil, the main offenders will be asked to leave and banned from attending for a time).

• Please try to be constructive with your feedback. All feedback is useful, no matter how small it may be.

• Do not be afraid to say you didn’t like something. Not everything will be to everyone’s tastes, and that is fine. Still try to leave constructive feedback wherever possible though, every point of view can be helpful.

• Receive feedback graciously. We are all trying to help one another, and sometimes that means saying something we may not like to hear. If you do hear something you think is unfair, please wait until the current round of feedback is over to respond and discuss.

The Reading:

• Having already read and printed off the work beforehand, ‘The Reading’ is largely a circle of feedback by each attendee going clockwise from the first submission drawn (or first in the list via Dropbox).

• Once the first work is drawn, feedback is given in a clockwise manner from that attendee onward. This will continue around the table until all feedback is received, and the writer may reply with any thinks or ask for further comments.

• This will continue in a clockwise manner until all attendees have had their say, or the meeting runs out of time.

• Any extra or spare time can be used by attendees to further discuss or provide more feedback if required. If no time permits, we do have Facebook group to help further any extra discussion.
